New Years

Times Square is famously known for the New Year’s celebration.  Annually, about 1 million+ people attend this event every year, over twice the amount the landmark receives on a daily basis. ^{"Times Square Alliance – New Year's Eve"}  . In 1999, published reports stated approximately 2 million people overflowed Times Square, making it the largest gathering since the celebrations marking the end of WW2 in August 1945. ^{"Times Square Alliance – New Year's Eve"} . The first official New Years ball drop was on December 31, 1907 at Times Square. The ball signified that it was New Year’s Day, and Times Square held New York City’s New year’s celebration, ever since. ^{"Times Square Alliance – New Year's Eve"}
